Maurice Hutchinson passed away on Saturday 27 May 2005 aged 86. He was prominent in athletics, soccer and tennis when he was a student here from 1931 to 1935. He graduated with an MA in French from the University of Auckland and returned as a staff member in 1944, teaching mainly French and English. He also taught at Avondale College and Auckland Grammar School, where he was HOD Languages 1957-1959, and coach of the soccer First XI. He wrote text books for French that were used throughout New Zealand and later became an inspector of secondary schools. He often attended Albertian functions and is pictured here at last the 2004 annual dinner.
