MAGS’ Under 16 Development team hosted the touring New South Wales Country side at Ponsonby Rugby Club’s base at Western Springs Stadium on Friday, July 7.
Jerseys were presented to the players by Albertian and Ponsonby Rugby legend Mr Bryan ‘BG’ Williams. The team, ably led by lock Oscar Graham, showed plenty of courage, with standout performances by forwards Darhys Simone, Blake Eversen and Jayden Steed-Hall in the backs.
Although the visitors won this tough and exciting encounter 17-31, the boys, coaches and parents all enjoyed the aftermatch in the clubrooms sharing a meal and speeches, where the captains exchanged gifts cheered on by visiting Lions supporters in town for the third Test.
