White-water rafting on the Tongariro River, caving and mountain biking were among the activities enjoyed by Year 12 Outdoor Education students on their last camp of the year.
The group travelled to the Blue Mountain Adventure Centre at Raurimu to put into practice the skills learned during the year. Teacher Mr Andy Belson said the students met expectations to be self-sufficient, require minimal guidance, and showed initiative, co-operation and good communication.
“All students participated with a great deal of enthusiasm, often overcoming personal fears or challenges, and clearly enjoyed the new activities. They were also very helpful, and met a brief to take turns cooking meals for the whole group.”
