MAGS Premier Netball Team won their round-robin section, going unbeaten yesterday and today in convincing style and moved into the top 16 this afternoon. They played a competitive Baradene side but raced out to a 6-0 lead. Lahaina-Lee Upu-Toparea (GA) led by example with a dominating display of speed and accuracy on attack and gained three intercepts.
Defensively Armani Lam (WD), Halavaelu Toutailepo (GD) and Ruby Young shut down the space for Baradene to move and pass into. Maddy Gordon (C) linked together with Addison Albert-Jones (WA), penetrating the attacking third with accurate feeds to Crystal Maro (GS). Changes were made after the first quarter with Year 10 Latonya Lole coming on at WA and Ala Toetu’u at Centre .
In the third quarter, Aaliyah Rooney, another Year 10, was brought on at GD and Alyssa Niko at GS. Changes were seamless, with the team winning 46-26. Waiana Jones was rested for the game.
The team face St Dominics College tomorrow morning, followed by St Paul’s (Hamilton). If successful, they move into the top eight.
