Former MAGS student Malia Steinmetz (pictured) has been named in the Football Ferns squad to play two games against the United States, the World No. 1 side and defending World Cup Champions. Midfielder Steinmetz earned her first international cap in the Cyprus Cup in March and is part of the new breed in the Football Ferns as they build towards the 2019 World Cup and 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 20th-ranked Football Ferns play the United States in Denver on September 15 and Cincinnati on September 19.
