Seven MAGS students earned Elite and Gold Awards in the 2017 Language Perfect World Championship online competition.
The competition requires students to answer as many questions as they can in their chosen language over 10 days. MAGS students choose to undertake the competition in their own time, competing against high school language students from all over the world.
This year Wilhelm Erlano (Chinese), Anvilly Huang (Japanese) and Miriam Leonhardt (French and German) all attained Elite Awards for gaining more than 10,000 points. Karen Geng (German), Heejoo Jang (Japanese), Caitlin Sutton (German) and Reiko Yoshida-Wildash (Japanese) gained Gold Awards for scoring between 3000 and 10,000 points.
Education Perfect has invited the Elite and Gold winning students to apply for NZIIU Student Exchange Scholarships, which are worth up to $5000 and enable students to complete a three-month overseas exchange.
MAGS’ Head of Languages Ms Helen Selaries congratulated the MAGS competitors and said their success was a reflection of their hard work and the excellence of their teachers.
