Prefect and Captain of MAGS’ Rugby League First XIII, Javvier Pitovao, Captained the New Zealand Under-18 side to a 28-10 win at Pulman Park in Papakura on Saturday, September 23.
The side, which also included Year 13 student Kayal Iro, played a team made up of New Zealand players currently based in Australia. All players were vying for selection for the NZ Schoolboys team to take on Australian Schoolboys on Tuesday, September 26.
Javvier and Kayal were both selected, and although the Kiwi side lost to Australia 18-26, the match was great experience ahead of their involvement in the NZSS team to play a New South Wales Schools team during the October holidays.
