After winning a silver medal in the Girls U16 Single Sculls at the Maadi Cup, Holly Chaafe has been named in the North Island v South Island U18 Trials next month.
Holly is pictured above with MAGS’ rowing coach John Cook after being presented with her silver medal at Lake Ruataniwha at the weekend.
She also teamed up with Hannah Zwalue and came sixth in New Zealand in the U17 Girls Double Sculls.
In other Maadi Cup results at the weekend, the Boys U15 Coxed Quad Sculls have placed fifth in their A Final, while the Boys U18 Coxed Four placed eighth in their A Final, competing in a blue ribbon event for the Springbok Shield.
A huge effort by the Boys U17 Coxed Eight in a very competitive division got them into the A Final where they finished seventh. And the Boys U17 Coxed Four won their B Final, placing them ninth in the country.
The U18 Novice Girls Coxed Eight placed fourth in their B final, putting them in the top 12 crews in the country in that division.
Hannah Zwalue finished fourth in the B Final of the U17 Girls Single Sculls, also putting her in the top 12 in New Zealand. And the Boys U16 Coxed Eight placed sixth in the B Final.
