Mount Albert Grammar School played Westlake in the quarter-final of the Knock Out Cup competition at MAGS.
MAGS scored first in the first half with Westlake equalising just before half-time. However, the second half saw MAGS score four more goals to finish winning 5 – 1.
The Junior Girls Blue Basketball team played out at Pulman Park in the Auckland Championships winning all their games in their pool.
This qualifies them for the semi-finals which will be played on Friday.
MAGS played One Tree Hill College at home in the semi-final of the Girls 10’s Rugby competition.
They led 22 – 10 at halftime then went on to win comprehensively 41 – 15. They will play Mt Roskill Grammar School in the final.
MAGS Premiers finished third at the Division 1 Championships played at College Rifles Rugby Club.
In the semifinal they lost to Mt Roskill Grammar 4-2 before going on to beat Avondale College 7-6 for third spot.
Played at Mount Albert Grammar School, MAGS had the better of the fixture with plenty of possession translating into two goals in both halves for a 4-0 win.
The Year 9 team was part of the MAGS teams that played out at the Combined Points Tournament at the Auckland Netball Center at Merton Rd.
The Year 10 Firebirds played in the final against One Tree Hill College having beaten Westlake Girls in the semi-final.
One Tree Hill College won.
The Combined Points Tournament was an excellent chance to try combinations and challenge players before they head into the business end of the season.
For the first time in a number of years the Premier team has not played in the final being knocked out after finishing drawn with One Tree Hill College in the quarter finals.
A closely fought game with MAGS ahead for the first half but prevailing in the last quarter.
