Brearna Crawford collected seven golds and broke several records at the National Age Group Swimming Championships held at the Millennium Institute on the North Shore.
In the Girls 15 Years division, she set a New Zealand record in the 50m Butterfly, and set three Auckland records (in the 50m Breast Stroke, and the 50m and 100m Butterfly). Her seven Golds came in the 50m Freestyle, Breast Stroke, Butterfly, 100m Breast Stroke, Butterfly, and in the 200m Breast Stroke and Individual Medley. She also picked up a Bronze in the 100m Freestyle.
Edie Ancell (Girls 13 Years) won her first National Age Group medal, claiming Silver with a personal best of 28.0sec in the 50m Freestyle.
MAGS Swim Club had 10 swimmers attend the NAGS meet, with eight of them MAGS Students. MAGS Swim Club came in ranked 18th for Female swimmers and 62nd for Male swimmers in NZ out of about 80 clubs
The following MAGS students also made the top 10 in NZ for their age groups: Eva Williams (16 Years), Vasilina Shipilova (16 Years), Emily Cameron (16 Years) and Bowen Crawford (13 Years).
Personal Bests were recorded by Lucy Woodall (16 Years – 2PBs), Joseph Nathan (15 Years – 1), Eva Williams (16 Years – 4), Vasilina Shipilova (16 Years – 3), Bowen Crawford (13 Years – 2), Emily Cameron (16 Years – 3), Edie Ancell (13 Years – 3), Brearna Crawford (15 Years – 7) and Lyall Hill (16 Years – 2).
Coach Paul Kent said, “The swimmers were model students and supported each other proudly. The parents were absolutely brilliant and a big part of the reason our swimmers and team continue to strengthen.
“We have a lot of work to do and I believe the swimmers have all gained a lot more confidence in the programme and their own abilities. This winter’s build-up to opens and NZSS will be very exciting for the team.”
