The mixed touch team played both Kaipara College and Mt Roskill Grammar School at Cox’s Bay winning the latter game 4 – 0.
Held annually this event started out at Mt Smart stadium at 8 am to accommodate the hurdles.
Francis Douglas Memorial College travelled from New Plymouth to play MAGS, not always a traditional fixture but with a past history of 4 or 5 games.
MAGS made 280/4 with a century and a 93 not out giving MAGS a good start.
The Premier Girls grading round was played at St Cuthberts College against Epsom Girls Grammar.
A game in which MAGS remained in front the whole game finishing with the score at 6 – 4.
In the first of two grading rounds tonight played at Diocesan School pool MAGS played St Peters College.
It was a tight game with St Peters having a one goal advantage at half time but with the final score 7 – 7.
The National Touch competition was played out at Bruce Pulman Park with over 50 teams from round NZ.
The Senior Girls faced Hamilton Girls first up in the pool round losing that game 6 – 4.
The next game against Rangi Ruru College had MAGS at a disadvantage after 3 very quick tries and a half time score of 5 – 1 down.The second half saw a remarkable comeback with MAGS scoring 7 tries leaving the final score 7 – 5 to MAGS.
With the National Tournament cancelled the Junior Boys played in the AKSS tournament out at Rosedale Park winning every game by a large margin.
This competition played out at Rosedale Park saw MAGS enter two teams both Junior Boys and Girls. Both teams made the finals with the Boys winning theirs and the Girls runners-up.
The Junior Boys played St Pauls College in the semi-final winning that 9 – 5 and going on to play St Peters College in the final.
They also won the final 7 – 6 in a tight game.
