The Joseph Lyons Cup Tournament was held at the St Cuthberts’ College pool in the second week of the holidays. In their first game the Boys team played Mount Maunganui College who eventually won 10 – 8 in a close fought game.
A grading game at MAGS v St Cuthberts College was a bit one-sided with the final score 23 – 0 to MAGS.
A home game for MAGS with a large and enthusiastic crowd urging the Basketball Boys Premiers on in a close and tense game, with Rangitoto College eventually prevailing 73-66.
This match was a home game with a good crowd for MAGS, who fought hard but went down 52-72 to Rangitoto College.
In a replay of last year’s APC Final MAGS played Epsom Girls Grammar School at home. EGGS took their chances to win 3-1.
In the first official game of the season – a replay of an abandoned game from Saturday where a player was badly injured – MAGS played Auckland Grammar School at MAGS.
The final score was 3 – 2 to MAGS.
A wet and miserable afternoon greeted the start of the delayed Hockey season for the second X1 against Diocesan School at Mount Roskill Grammar School turf.
For the first time this winter the Football Girls took to the field against Baradene College at Michaels Ave. There was one goal to MAGS in the first half with the second half seeing four.
Final score was a convincing win to MAGS 5 – 1.
This first hit-out for the First VX Rugby squad took place at Auckland Grammar School in front of a relatively loud and partisan crowd.
