Games were played in Touch and Basketball, with youthful energy up against experience and cunning.
Highly competitive games were played in Football, Basketball and Touch.
This year at MAGS there were teams playing Tennis, Squash, Football, Rugby, Basketball and Climbing. Whangarei were the better at the racquet sports but the others were won by MAGS.
Played at the Auckland Grammar turf, the game was well supported with plenty of Albertians wanting to be involved.
There was a lot of enthusiasm among the female Albertians to continue with the tradition that was started off last year with this hockey match.
The Cricket Boys 1st XI and Albertians combined to form two teams (Augusta and Angusta) in a 30-over-a -side match.
Playing out at Keith Hay Park MAGS beat Diocesan School in their first pool match. Facing Takapuna Grammar School who made 143/4 off their 50 overs in the second pool match they came agonisingly close.
Played in a very dark Millenium pool the girls team ultimately prevailed over the Baradene girls’ even gifting them a goal. The scores were 2 – 1 Baradene, after the first quarter, 3 – 3 at the third quarter until the end with the final score 9 – 7 to MAGS.
Caitlin (5) scored 4 goals using the bounce shot at goal with Milly (2) and Tasha (1).
Played at the Sacred Heart Pool it was a closely fought game. 5 – 3 at the end of the second quarter then 6 – 4 for the third ending at 9 – 7 to Sacred Heart.
MAGS batted first and made 124/8 with a solid mid-wicket partnership of over 50 runs .
