A plucky team otherwise known as Junior A during the winter season was playing in the NZSS Development tournament over predominately older teams out at Fred Taylor Park in Whenuapai. The team drew their first match otherwise winning the next three pool games to make the top 6.
An update on this post with this team winning the competition.
The tournament was held this year at the Howick-Pakuranga Netball Centre. MAGS played Trident in their third game of pool play winning comfortably.
In foul weather with strong wind and rain the tournament was played at Avondale Race Course. MAGS won against Diocesan, Westlake, Epsom B only losing to Epsom A in the pool play. Thus making it to the finals.
An impressive game on MAGS behalf beating One Tree Hill College 45 – 12.
A competitive match played at MAGS which unfortunately the home team lost 0 – 2.
A hard fought game on both sides that ended in a draw 2 – 2.
The Yr 9 team didn’t lose a match winning their section of the competition.
They played Whangarei Girls won, Carmel College, lost, Avondale, loss, and won against Sancta Maria .
The annual Combined Points Tournament on hold during Covid restrictions was again played at the Auckland Netball Centre. There were only three divisions this year with no senior A – perhaps reflecting the increased number of schools competing.Unfortunately the Premiers fell 11 – 13 to Epsom Girls Grammar and failed to progress.
