The Prefects of 2018 attended their team-building camp from December 3-5 at Onemana on the Coromandel Peninsula.
Activities were structured around the four pillars of the school – Academia, Arts, Sport and Service. The 33 Prefects took part in a quiz, a goal-setting session to start planning the committees they wanted to lead next year, and each composed a three-minute speech relating to one of the four pillars.
Head of Dance Ms Samantha French helped the group create a song and dance performance reflecting the various cultures of MAGS, an orienteering challenge saw students navigate their way through a bush course, and the students volunteered for the local Ratepayers’ Association, planting sand dunes and laying mulch on tracks.
Organisers Ms Haana Bovaird and Mr Andy Belson said the group were “an amazing bunch of students who bought into all our ideas, and helped cook and clean up.”
They thanked the other teachers who helped: Ms Va Anisi, Ms Alayna Pulham, Ms Natalie Absolum, Mr Gordon Smith, Ms Shameen Hayat and Headmaster Mr Patrick Drumm.
