MAGS took the farm to the people at the Alberton Market Day on Sunday, 12 November.
Two lambs from the ASB MAGS Farm played a starring role, as Year 10 Agricultural Science students helped local children bottle-feed them at lunchtime. Head of Agricultural Science, Ms Esther Hancock, gave a talk about study on the farm and the development of an Experience Centre, and Farm Manager Mr Brett Harris helped youngsters climb aboard a tractor.
The market day was Alberton’s most successful yet, with more than 1860 people visiting. The ASB MAGS Farm will be back at the next market on December 10, maybe giving some calves a turn at meeting local families.
Thanks to our student helpers: Campbell Barclay, Fraser Buchanan, Nicole Williams, Kaitlyn Sanders and Ariella Weinberg.
